Munich
Munich lies by the Alps, on the river Isar, it’s the third biggest city in Germany and the capital of Bayern.
It is for a reason that Munich is visited by thousands of tourists – for everyone can find here something to his liking. Munich is rich in cultural and architectural monuments: in the central square Marienplatz there is Marian column, New and Old Town Hall. The central tower of the New Town Hall contains Rathaus-Glockenspiel, which every day (at 11 a.m. in winter and also at 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. in summer) chimes and re-enacts a 15-minute long story. Not far from the Town Hall the tallest church of Munich, Frauenkirche is located, its sky deck opens a breath taking view upon the Alps and the city itself.
After a walk in the city centre, it’s nice to have some rest in one of the many parks. The most famous park is the Olympic park, built for the Olympic Games of 1972.
Bear in mind that Munich is the homeland of BMW, the admirers of which have a chance to visit there the BMW museum, where not only cars and motorcycles are presented, but also engines and airplane parts, which have been produced by BMW from the beginning of the 20th century to the present day.
And, of course, it’s bad manners to come to Munich and not to try the famous Bavarian beer. If you want to enjoy a glass of good beer and plunge into the atmosphere of a Bavarian beer house, the famous restaurant “Hofbräuhaus” is the place you should visit.
