Karlovy Vary
Karlovy Vary is a spa city, famous for its hot mineral springs that are used for treatment of digestive illnesses and disorders in the motor apparatus.
The thirteen hot mineral springs have a similar composition, but a different temperature. Local liquor Karlovarská Becherovka is known all over the world and sometimes it’s jokingly called the fourteenth spring. The existence of mineral springs became a pre-condition for development of spa industry and for building here multiple spa complexes, resorts and hotels.
Everything here was created for peaceful rest and therapy: apart from mineral springs visitors can also enjoy Terrainkur with its quiet paths around picturesque hilly forests of Karlovy Vary or swim in an open swimming pool containing water from hot springs which is located on the roof of the hotel “Thermal”.
Popular tourist attractions include St. Peter and Paul’s church built in the 19th century; the museum in Moser factory which produces world known glassworks; Jan Becher museum with expositions dedicated to history and manufacturing of the famous Czech liquor; galleries with hot mineral springs built in the 19th century.
